Sunshine, a new short story is out on Kindle

I struggled with writing this short story about the grieving process, and it's been brewing in my head for awhile. The story is based on a real incident, which happens at the end.

My favorite cities are featured: San Francisco and New Orleans. I pulled in several real life experiences and I hope that I did justice to some of the good people I encountered.

SPOILERS: (or maybe not):

I actually observed the opening scene at Crissy Field in real life. The little orange copter apparently patrols the beach, always ready to help those tempted by the bridge. The Circle in Golden Gate Park is real, and I visited it several years ago. It is a peaceful place. Mark and Angela are both based on very dear friends that have always had my back.

New Orleans is as described. In particular, I like St. Roch's, which is reputed to be haunted. I've always been interested in Victorian mourning jewelry and hairwork, so I decided to include a little bit of history about momento mori. There are several shops in NOLA that have these items.

If you think back over the entire story, there are several signs for Emily that she doesn't see until it's blasting right in her face at top volume. I hope you see the signs in your own life when you need it.

Til next time, Dear Reader...
